2005Clendenen Family Vineyards Syrah/Viognier This is a wine from the Clendenen Family’s new, organically certified ranch near Los Alamos, La Cuna de California. It is low alcohol co-fermented, very aromatic, and classically modeled. The aromas are quite floral, with green, white, and black pepper. In the mouth, the honeysuckle and peach viognier notes intertwine with soft purple fruit, hard spice, and earth. As hot climate shiraz and stupid, sweet, short syrah recede in popularity, this wine is a beacon towards balance, elegance, and varietal integrity.
