The grapes of Carpaneto come from one of the most famous vineyard that today has still the name of the ancient farm where they are placed. The Sangiovese, about half quantity, is coupled with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a good quantity of Gamay. In September, the selected grapes are harvested and placed to macerate, in thermo-conditioned vats. Moreover they are submitted to frequent mixing to have a correct tannins extraction and colour that, afterwards with a brief stay in Barriques, take the wine to its ripe. The intense colour, the elegant and different aroma and the strong flavour with fresh and fruity Nuances, are excellent for typical regional plates, such as Spaghetti with truffles, regional cooked pigeons, stuffed chicken and cheeses and game. Castello di Magione can be purchased at West Meade Wine and Spirits.
